Het werd tijd: eindelijk eerste ruggedized smartphone van Sonim
Het werd tijd. Eindelijk komt de voormalige marktleider van rugged telefoons met een Android LTE smartphone. De markt heeft jaren op de eerste smarpthone van Sonim moeten wachten. Vaak beloofd, maar nooit gekomen. Toch is er wat vreemds aan de hand. De telefoon is namelijk nog niet in productie genomen. Nee, heel opmerkelijk is dat Sonim een crowd funding campagne is gestart om het benodigde kapitaal bij elkaar te schrappen.
Sonim wil US$ 150.000 (€ 121.000) ophalen Dat is niet veel. Op de eerste dag is er al 16% van het target opgehaald. Maar waarom gebruikt Sonim deze manier van financieren? Je zou toch denken dat Sonim inmiddels geen start-up meer is. Bizar. Of gaat het niet goed met het bedrijf, omdat de markt zolang op hun eerste smartphone heeft moeten wachten?
In de Benelux is Sonim helemaal overschaduwd door CAT, Toughshield en de vele andere fabrikanten die deze stuitertelefoons leveren. Maar het is wel een mooi ontwerp:
